自從 2008 年支持與大陸維持較緊密關係的馬英九當選總統以來，北京已經採取較和解的方法。 馬英九擔任總統期間，跨海峽貿易已經幾乎倍增, 去年達到一千九百七○億。去年有將近三百萬中國人到台灣旅遊，成為 2008 年台灣放寬大陸抵台限制之後，最大的觀光客群。 

文法：

1. 新聞標題用現在式表示過去式。 在新聞報導時，中國與台灣的會談已經發生，但新聞標題都用現在式來表示過去式。 

Since the 2008 election of President Ma Ying-jeou, who favors closer ties with the mainland, Beijing has taken a more conciliatory approach. 

2. since 當連接詞引導從屬子句時，則主要主句要用現在完成式。 

3. who 是關係代名詞，引導形容詞子句，形容 Ma Ying-jeou。 逗點表示非限定用法。
